Oooh, pretties! I've never seen chionodoxa before. They're lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Chionodoxa is the Latin name; the popular or common name for them are glory-of-the-snow. I never saw them much in thr south, but they bloom in profuse abundance here in the north. Like daffodils and snowdrops, they seem to naturalize where planted very well, and they come into bloom very suddenly. The first time I saw them in the park, they caught my attention through my peripheral vision, and it looked as if there was blue, blue water pouring down what had been formerly a grassy slope. I have never seen a photo that quite captures their color quality, but this was the best I have seen.
